Creative Instore Solutions Newsletter

G’day Mate, Hello, Ni Hao, Howdy, Guten Tag and welcome to the first Creative Instore Solutions newsletter for 2011. If the market sentiments from my recent trips to the UK, China, Hong Kong, the US and Dusseldorf are anything to go by, we are in for a fabulous year ahead.

There is so much excitement and a real desire from people to create, integrate, innovate and shake things up this year. But more than anything, I’ve noticed how much more globalised the playing field has become in the POP / POS industry. Read on to find out more.

You might have watched the show Mad Men on TV or DVD. If you haven’t, it is set around a US advertising agency in the 1960’s. What struck me most from the show is how much time agency folks spent with their clients understanding their needs and requirements. Nowadays we are so caught up with our computers, phones and everything else that we sometimes underestimate the value of face-to-face conversations with the client.

CIS recently conducted our Innovation Day with Red Bull in Austria and it was fabulous to be able to listen to their needs and be involved in what they are trying to achieve. Similarly, the Smiths Golden Triangle unit came about after we sat with the client and assessed what is making people reach for their products.

We pride ourselves in not just delivering on brief, but understating client needs and going one step further to innovate for maximised return-on-investment. At CIS, we know that great design comes from listening to people and clients. And this year, be it Perth, Hong Kong, Atlanta, New York, Australia, Holland or India, we look forward to meeting you and innovating together.

Thanks for reading, and see you in-store soon.

Last word

I’m glad I practised my elevator pitch before going overseas as I got to deliver it to none other than the great Sir Richard Branson in London when I bumped into him at a restaurant. It is always awe-inspiring and humbling to meet someone like him; but what amazed me most was how down-to-earth he is.

I think I convinced him about the beauty of POP. So will we see one of our units on board their flights? You never know! Stay tuned and you’ll find out.
